Announcement with text New COVID-19 Checklist from FDA and OSHA

This week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) teamed up to release the Employee Health and Food Safety Checklist for Human and Animal Food Operations During the COVID-19 Pandemic for human and animal food operations.

The checklist is a good place to start as facilities develop strategies for continuity of operations during the pandemic.

Note that the checklist doesn’t cover every possible scenario and doesn’t provide an exhaustive list of what facilities can do for employee health and food safety.

The checklist covers:

  • General guidelines for the workplace,
  • Facilities,
  • Personnel,
  • Persons who are symptomatic or develop symptoms at work,
  • Employee exposure investigation & testing,
  • Work environment configuration (with examples),
  • Food safety plans,
  • Suppliers and incoming ingredients, and
  • Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) requirements.

Within the checklist, the agencies included links to additional information that may be helpful as facilities assess their plans for maintaining a safe working environment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Use the FDA and OSHA checklist with our factsheet below for helpful information on practices that can be implemented in your facility to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
