The N.C. Cooperative Extension of Person County office is looking to recruit new food volunteers to assist our Family Consumer Sciences Extension agent in programming efforts. This is only for Person County, NC residents.

The Extension Master Food Volunteer (EMFV) program provides residents the opportunity to engage with their communities by supporting N.C. Cooperative Extension Family Consumer Science agents programming in the areas of nutrition, cooking, food safety, and food systems.

If you think you may be interested in volunteering, come and learn more about the program, training, and fun you can have as a food volunteer. There will be an EMFV Interest Meeting on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the Person County office at 304 South Morgan Street in Room 166. Register at go.ncsu.edu/fcsregistration to attend.

Anyone interested in cooking, nutrition, food safety, or food systems can apply!

OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEER SERVICES INCLUDE:                                       • Nutrition Education • Cooking Demonstrations • Educational Booths 

**This is just an interest meeting but here are some expectations of our food volunteers if you decide to sign up.

  • Complete the EMFV application and interview
  • Complete mandatory 30 hours of training
  • Communicate volunteer interests that suit your skills
  • Shadow your Family Consumer Sciences Extension agent the first year
  • Continue to serve each year and participate in some continuing education
